In 1995, Jerry Brokaw approached the Knights of Columbus at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church about reconstituting Troop 409 and Pack 409 in Excelsior. The Knights agreed to sponsor the Pack/Troop. In October 1995, Troop 409 was rechartered. Starting with 8 scouts and Jerry as the Scoutmaster, the adventure began.
In 2000, Charlie Jones joined with his son Jesse, later becoming Scoutmaster. Troop 409 has had over 320 boys participate in our highly successful program. Together, with the Lake Minnetonka District and Northern Star Council, we have offered leadership development and outdoor skills.
Since that time, the Troop has grown to 65 Scouts and 24 registered adults. Under the leadership of Scoutmaster Dave Durenberger, Troop 409 continues to build on the successful program. Our Troop maintains an excellent retention rate and rank advancement. We have produced 34 Eagle Scouts with several more set to finish either merit badges or projects to reach the rank of Eagle.
Troop 409 developed and maintains this website for a variety of reasons including:
